Kendall College Summer Camps Give High School Students Hands-On Experience in Business, Hospitality

Week-long Camps run from June 21 through August 6

CHICAGO, Illinois (July 15, 2010) – Kendall College kicked off its popular educational camps for high school students ages 13 - 18 years on June 14. The camps are for students who want to learn about careers in culinary arts, business or hospitality management. The five-day summer camp sessions run from June 21 through August 6. Campers who complete a week-long session are awarded a $1,000 scholarship towards tuition at Kendall College.

“Kendall College’s summer camps had a tremendous turnout last year,” said Terrell Johnson, camp director at Kendall College. “It’s a great way for students to learn new skills, socialize with peers who share similar interests, and have some fun.”

Whether a student plans to be the next top entrepreneur or a high-powered hotel executive, Kendall’s Backpack to Boardroom Camp provides high school students with the opportunity to learn about the world of business and hospitality management through a series of team challenges that take place throughout Chicago.

For the aspiring chef, Kendall’s culinary camps offer basic and advanced level culinary, baking and pastry sessions. Whether preparing pasta and chicken dishes or baking pastries and desserts, culinary campers apply what they learn in Kendall’s commercial-grade kitchens. Each session concludes with a special banquet for family and friends prepared entirely by culinary campers.

Kendall’s day camps run from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, for $850/week for culinary and $725/week for business/hospitality management. Students who enroll in Kendall’s overnight camp option stay in Kendall’s student resident hall and participate in supervised night time activities such as tours of the city and attending a Broadway production in Chicago. Overnight camp costs $1,275/week for culinary arts and $1,150 for business/hospitality, which includes meals and activities.
